The Tennessee Walking Horse Breed
originated in the state of Tennessee in the United States during the
1800’s.

warmblood type.
History:
The need for an all round useable horse started the early settlers
breeding gaited Spanish Horses, with the Narragamett Pacer, Canadian
Pacer, Thoroughbred, Morgan, Standardbred, and Saddlebred horses. By 1886
a black colt named Black Allen was born and passed on the valued gait of
the Tennessee Walker. The Tennessee Walking Horse Breed registry was
founded in 1935.

Description:
The Tennessee Walker has a largish head
with a straight profile; the neck is long, arched, and muscular; a broad
chest and sloping shoulders; the withers are pronounced; and a short back
with a flat, muscular croup. They carry their tail high. The gaits of the
Tennessee Walking Horse are a flat walk, a running walk, and canter. The
running walk can be very fast – up to 15 mph over short distances.

naturally sociable with humans as well as other horses, and is bold and
quiet.
Uses: The
Tennessee Walking Horse is comfortable under saddle and makes an
excellent mounts for all levels of riders.
