The Norwegian Fjord pony originates in
Norway.

The Norwegian Fjord is a pony in the
warmblood group.
History:
The Norwegian Fjord resembling the primitive Asian Wild Horse and were
once the mounts used by the Viking warriors. That spread their existence
across Scandinavia. The Norwegian Fjord has remained pure since the early
1900’s. That means no other blood has been infused into the breed,
however, the Norwegian Fjord is considered to be one of the ancestors of
all European draft horse breeds. Today, the Norwegian Fjord can be found
worldwide.
Height: The
height of the Norwegian Fjord is 13HH – 14HH.

Colors: The
body of the Norwegian Fjord is a light dun and they have a dark dorsal
stripe that continues forward past the withers and through the mane to
the forelock. The mane is a very distinctive two-tone color pattern. The
hair in the middle of the mane is dark and surrounded by cream or silvery
hair along each side.
Description:
The Norwegian Fjord is short in stature
and stocky in build. Some are built more like a light draft and others
are a little more refined in body type. They all have short, strong legs
with light feathering; a neat head with a wide forehead; and a powerful
neck with no withers. They are hardy animals and easy keepers.
