History:
The first horses arrived in Australia in 1788 from South Africa. The
Australian Stock Horse breed developed from importing and breeding
Thoroughbreds, Arabians, and Barbs. In 1954 the American Quarter Horses
were imported and Quarter Horse blood was added to the breed. The horses

Horse Society was formed and the term Stock Horse was introduced.

Australian Stock Horses stand 14.2HH to 16.2HH.

There are lots of bays but the Australian Stock Horse can be any solid
color.
Description:
In appearance
the Australian Stock Horse has
qualities of the Thoroughbred - refined and attractive but with more bone
and substance. There is much variation in the breed.

very willing, quick, reliable, and with good stamina.
