Country of Origin: The Treeing Walker Coonhound originated in the USA

Height: 20-27 inches (51-69 cm.)

Weight: 50-70 pounds (23-32 kg.)

Description: With their signature long ears and medium square muzzle that is slightly tapered with flews, the Treeing Walker Coonhound somewhat resembles a Basset Hound. With straight forelegs and sloping muscular body, this elegant hound is agile and keeps its tail held high. The Treeing Walker Coonhound is in the Hound group.

Colors: Treeing Walker Coonhounds come in tri-color (black white and red) or bi-color.

 

 

Coat: An average shedder, the Treeing Walker Coonhound requires brushing only as necessary. This breed's ears should be checked regularly for any signs of infection.

Temperament: High strung and anxious but excellent with children and at tracking, this breed is highly trainable and thrives on pleasing its owner. Though primarily a hunting dog, the Treeing Walker Coonhound makes an excellent family companion and gets along well with everyone. For a Treeing Walker Coonhound, working is more like sport and they enjoy it thoroughly.

Health Concerns: Treeing Walker Coonhounds are generally healthy with no major hereditary problems.
