Description: In two varieties, either hairless
with tufts of hair or powderpuff, the Mexican Hairless has
bat-like ears and a graceful antelope-like neck. The
Powderpuff’s fur falls in heavy folds over its body and
neck. The Mexican Hairless is in the Toy group.
Colors: Both the hairless and the powderpuff come
in reddish gray, |
black, elephant gray, dark bronze or
gray-black; coffee sometimes with pink spots.
Coat: The hairless variety require skin
maintenance, including sunscreen, protection from the
elements.Their teeth and nails also require regular
attention. The powderpuff variety is an average shedder and
should be brushed regularly. The Mexican Hairless have no
dog odor and are an excellent pet for allergy sufferers.
Temperament: The Mexican Hairless is highly
trainable and has been bred as a companion dog. Affectionate
and adaptable, children should be taught to be kind to this
sweet breed. They are natural vegetarians.
Health Concerns: The Mexican Hairless skin is
susceptible to dry irritation, sunburn and tears from other
dogs.
Life Expectancy: The life expectancy of the
Mexican Hairless is about 12-15 years. |

Living Environment: The Mexican Hairless does not
do well in extremely cold climates. The Mexican Hairless is
a family dog and does best living with its family. They do
not require a lot of exercise and are happy to romp, play
and go on walks. This breed makes an excellent companion for
the elderly. |
