Country of Origin: The Clumber Spaniel originated
in France.
Height: males: 19 - 20" (48.3 - 48.3cm) females:
17 - 19" (43.2 - 43.2cm).
Weight: males: 70-85 lbs (32-39 kg) females: 55-70
lbs (25-32 kg).
Description: Clumber Spaniels are the largest and
heaviest of all the spaniels. They have fur covered
vine-shaped ears, strong short legs, and muscular shoulders.
The Clumber Spaniel is in the Sporting group.
Colors: Clumber Spaniels are predominantly white,
with either lemon or orange markings. |
Coat: Heavy shedders, clumber
Spaniels should be brushed regularly. Their ears and eyes
should be checked and cleaned regularly.
Temperament: Clumber spaniels are quiet gentle
dogs. They are affectionate and easy going. They get along
well with children and other pets. Clumber Spaniels love to
chew and fetch. They have excellent memories and like to do
things that please their owners. They are not outgoing, and
will not open up to everyone.
Health Concerns: Clumber Spaniels are susceptible
to panosteitis (juvenile lameness), hip dysplasia,
cataracts, dry eyes, fleas and entropion. Clumber Spaniels
drool, wheeze and snore and should not be overfed. They have
been known to swallow foreign objects. |

Life Expectancy: The life expectancy of the
Clumber Spaniel is about 10-12 years.
Living Environment: Clumber Spaniels are inactive
indoors and require at least a small yard. As a Clumber
Spaniel ages, its exercise requirement is reduced, and a
couple of minutes of fetch will satisfy its need for
activity. Clumber Spaniels love to swim.
