Shepherd originated in the US.
Height: 13-18 inches (33-46 cm.)
Weight: 20-40 pounds (9-18 kg.)
Description: Miniature Australian Shepherds are
smaller versions of the standard size. They have soft wavy
or straight coats, feathering on the backs of their legs and
a mane around their neck. Their muzzles are wedge shaped and
they have round compact feet.
Colors: Miniature Australian Shepherds come in
blue merle, red merle, red or black tri-color, all white or
white with tan markings. |
Coat: The miniature
Australian Shepherd has an easy care coat and should only be
bathed and brushed when necessary. This breed is an average
shedder.
Temperament: Sweet, easy going, highly trainable
and naturally protective, Miniature Australian Shepherds are
devoted and require plenty of exercise to keep them from
getting bored. This breed is quiet and will sometimes try to
herd people.
Health Concerns: Miniature Australian Shepherds
have various health concerns the most common of which are
eye problems including anomalies such as Iris Colobomas
(IC), Juvenile Cataracts, Persistent Pupilary Membrane; some
of which may lead to partial or total blindness. |

Life Expectancy: The life expectancy of the
Miniature Australian Shepherd is about 12-13 years.
Living Environment: Miniature Australian Shepherds
are very active and require daily exercise to stay happy and
healthy. They can do well in apartments and a colder
climate.
