Description: American Water Spaniels have tight
curly coats. They are compact and muscular with a medium
length muzzle and long ears covered in curls. American Water
Spaniels use their tails as rudders while swimming. The
American Water Spaniel is in the Sporting group.
Colors: American Water Spaniels may be liver or
chocolate - sometimes with a small white spot on the chest.

Coat: The American Water
Spaniel has a naturally oily coat and should be brushed
twice a week. This dog breed should only be bathed as
necessary in order to avoid drying out their skin.
Temperament: Sweet-tempered and highly trainable,
American Water Spaniels are easy going and love to swim and
roam. They have been known to snap when startled, but this
highly intelligent breed gets along nicely with children and
small non-canine pets.

generally healthy but are sometimes prone to skin problems.
