KORAT
Korats are sweet, gentle, and quiet. They like to be around
people--or, if possible, on them--especially a chosen
favorite, though they can be shy around strangers. Korats
require lots of attention and do not like to be left alone.
Description
Korats are muscular, medium-sized cats with huge rounded
ears. These silver-blue cats have a heart shaped head which
is very broad across the eyes. No other breed has this
feature.
The eyes of the Korat are quite large and bright. They will
become a luminous green although it can take up to four
years for the colour to be fully developed.
They have short, glossy coats, which are very fine. Their
coats lie close to their bodies, which means they look more
like skin. |
The only colour variety for the Korat is blue. Each hair is
tipped with silver giving the coat a silvery blue
appearance.
The blue colour of their coats varies in shade; some cats
are lighter than others.
While Korats are sleek, they're stockier than Russian Blues.
Their paw pads are dark blue or lavender with a pinkish
tinge.
The legs are thin but proportionate to the body. The front
legs are shorter than the back legs.
Characteristics and Temperament
The Korat is a gentle cat that likes play but is not fond of
loud noises. The Korat is very affectionate and sweet, and
is therefore very good with children.
It is said they have exceptional hearing and a keen sense of
smell and sight. |

Special Requirements
Regular combing or daily hand grooming should keep hairballs
at a minimum.
Korats are often polished with a chamois leather or silk
cloth. This cat needs a warm climate.
