HAVANA BROWN
Description
The first thing an admirer notices is
the cat's glistening mahogany-toned brown coat.
Only one variety is found in the Havana
and that is brown. The colour is referred to as mahogany as
the coat goes toward the red and not black. The whiskers
will also be brown.
Their other incomparable feature is the
distinctive head that is slightly longer than it is wide.
When viewed in profile, the prominent, broad nose has a
definite stop at the eyes.
The medium sized eyes of the Havana
Brown are green in colour, oval in shape, expressive, and
positioned lower on the head than those of most other
breeds. This gives the appearance of a cat looking down its
nose. The resulting high forehead accentuates large,
round-tipped ears, which are tilted slightly forward,
lending an alert appearance. |
Its
medium-sized body must be firm and muscular, exhibiting a
sense of power, yet also showing definite elegance and
gracefulness. This is the perfect cat for the person who
wants a sociable, affectionate and intelligent feline
friend.
Characteristics and Temperament
The Havana Brown can be somewhat shy
but is graceful and gentle.
The Havana Brown is a curious cat known
to use its paws to touch and examine that which interests
them. These cats love people and need human attention. They
are intelligent, playful, affectionate and loyal. Like the
Siamese, they demand a lot of attention. Comfortable with
indoor life as long as space is not restricted.
Because of the adaptability of this
breed, the Havana Brown will adjust to your home/work
schedule, but, as with any companion animal, it should never
be left alone for long periods of time.
|

Special Requirements
Havana Brown cats should be combed
twice weekly using a fine toothed comb in the hair's natural
growth direction. Although the Havana Brown is generally a
hardy breed, some lines have a tendency to develop sinus
problems when exposed to sudden changes in temperature or
humidity.
